HYGIENIST APPOINTMENTS
Hygienists play a vital role in your oral health care routine
Isn’t it time you booked an appointment?
Lubitza ( Lou ) is our Practice Hygienist and Dental Therapist, please see OUR TEAM page to learn a little about her and her focus of care.
We are a small team and work closely together as Dental Professionals to offer our patients continuity of dental care across our team and specialities.
We believe that communication is paramount in achieving the best possible treatment outcomes for our patients.
Preventative care is paramount
Your Hygienist plays a vital role in helping you to maintain a healthy mouth, preventing further dental problems such as decay and gum disease, the biggest cause of tooth loss in adults.
Your mouth is a gateway into your body, so it makes sense to keep it as clean and healthy as possible and checked by a Dental Professional at regular intervals. This preventative care if carried out routinely as advised by your Dentist and Hygienist can help avoid the need for other dental treatments and interventions.
“Prevention is better than Cure”
Recent Medical Research has also found links between gum disease and a range of health problems related to the heart and strokes.
Everyone can benefit from regular professional tooth cleaning with a Hygienist but for those with certain medical conditions it is even more important to maintain good oral health.
All age groups can benefit from a professional clean with a Hygienist
Children and teenagers who may be reluctant to comply with requests to clean their teeth and need some extra education / instruction and motivation.
Those of us who for various reasons may find it difficult to reach certain areas of our mouths and clean effectively. This may be due to dexterity problems, braces or other dental appliances etc . . .
Following other dental treatments such as Implants being placed, these require a particular hygiene maintenance regime.
During different stages of our lives, for example pregnancy, when extra demands are placed on our bodies, through to menopause when hormones can affect our gum and bone health.
As we age and may have fewer of our own natural teeth it is still more important than ever to look after our remaining teeth and keep our gums and soft tissues healthy and disease free.
Certain medications and medical treatments / therapies can also adversely affect our teeth, gums and bone health and leave us more vulnerable.
All of these are extra reasons to make sure that you attend regularly for your Routine Dental Hygiene and Dental Check up appointments.
We recommend visiting us for Dental Hygiene (professional cleaning) with our Hygienist and a check-up with your Dentist every six months to minimise the risk of dental complications and possible future costly treatment and improve your overall health and maintain your smile!
